 Havering’s GLA member, Roger Evans, today won the Mayor of London’s agreement to meet with the borough’s civic leaders about the reduced scope of the scheme to redevelop Romford railway station under plans for Crossrail.

Speaking at Mayor’s Question Time on Wednesday at City Hall, Boris said that he is willing to meet with Havering borough leaders to discuss the changes and see what could be done to improve them.

Roger Evans, London Assembly member for Havering and Redbridge, has welcomed the Mayor’s plans to invest part of his £10million Outer London Borough Fund in Rainham.

Commenting on the Mayor’s plans to invest £220,000 in Rainham, Roger Evans said:

“This investment is excellent news for Rainham. It shows that Boris is as good as his word when he said in 2008 that he was not going to be just a Zone 1 Mayor.”

News from Roger Evans: Evans takes on illegal minicabs

Roger Evans, London Assembly Member for Havering and Redbridge will today ask the Mayor what is being done to crack down on unlicensed minicabs. Speaking at the Mayor's Question Time at City Hall, Mr Evans will ask what can be done to tackle touts outside major entertainment venues and what the Mayor has planned to raise awareness of the dangers associated with using illegal minicabs.

At Mayor’s Question Time yesterday Redbridge’s London Assembly member, Roger Evans, asked Boris to intervene in Newham Council’s plans to block the Cycle Super Highway (CS2), from Bow to Ilford.

 

Responding, Mr Johnson said that he has spoken to Newham’s Mayor, Sir Robin Wales, who has agreed to look again at the Council’s stance.

London Assembly Member for Havering and Redbridge, Roger Evans has welcomed Boris Johnson’s announcement of £50m for regeneration in outer London town centres.

 

The move will allow councils to bid for funding to aid the regeneration of town centres, like Ilford & Romford.

 

The money can be used to aid the development of land, maximise transport infrastructure investment and improve town centres for the people who live and work there.

Roger Evans, Havering and Redbridge’s London Assembly member, has today called for the Central line to become driverless.

Speaking today, Mr Evans urged Boris Johnson to examine and press ahead with the idea.

“Driverless train technology is in operation all over the world. It is safe, efficient and reliable.

“Once the upgrade is completed, the Central line will be an automatic system, with drivers reduced to door openers.
