The near-trebling of river bus services between Blackfriars and Putney was today described by Wandsworth GLA member, Richard Tracey as a “huge leap forward” in the advancement of the Thames as an integral part of London’s transport system.

Commenting, Mr Tracey said:

“The expansion of the Thames Clipper service upstream to Putney is a great victory for everyone who’s been pushing for a boost to river transport west of central London, so I am delighted that it is finally here.

News from Richard Tracey: Richard Tracey questions Boris Johnson on time table for Driverless Tube

Richard Tracey AM, Transport spokesman for the GLA Conservatives, will today press the Mayor Boris Johnson for a firm timetable for the introduction of driverless trains on the Tube network. Richard Tracey authored a report that recommended fully automating the Tube network during Boris's first term as Mayor. The policy has now been adopted by Transport for London. Speaking before the first Mayors Question Time since the London elections, Richard said:

Wandsworth London Assembly member, Richard Tracey, today hailed the announcement that the Government has earmarked the Northern line extension to Battersea for building.

 

Speaking as it was revealed that the Underground scheme now looks certain to go ahead in the near future, Mr Tracey said:

News from Richard Tracey: Richard Tracey calls for St Helier A&E to be retained

Merton’s London Assembly member, Richard Tracey, has written to St Helier University Hospital Trust urging them to retain the full compliment of accident and emergency services after the hospital’s development.

 

In a letter to Trust member, Alan Cordingley, Mr Tracey also says that redevelopment of the hospital should include expansion of its current car parking facilities.

Richard Tracey today put his name to a report which suggests that the August riots were the result of a criminal minority believing they could get away with vandalism and looting because police are ham-strung by politically-correct thinking that deters them from taking necessary action to restore order.

News from Richard Tracey: Richard Tracey hails Thames Water decision to scale-back Barn Elms super sewer site

Richard Tracey, Wandsworth’s London Assembly member has hailed Thames Water decision to abandon its plans to build a massive construction site at Barn Elms as a base station for the building of the Thames Tunnel.

 

Speaking as it was announced that work at the site would be scaled back to last two years, instead of the originally planned six, and the plans no longer include the construction of a massive drive shaft, Mr Tracey said:

 

News from Richard Tracey: Richard Tracey backs proposals for a driverless Underground

London Assembly Conservative Group transport spokesman, Richard Tracey, today backed a report presented to the Transport for London Board that proposes to introduce driverless trains on the London Underground.

 

Mr Tracey, who first proposed that the Tube go driverless a year ago said:

 

“When I first suggested the way forward for London Underground is to adopt driverless technology I was seen as maverick.

 

“So I am very pleased that my ideas for the Tube have become mainstream thinking for future investment plans.

Anchors away! Richard Tracey joins Boris for new pier opening

Wandsworth’s London Assembly member, Richard Tracey, yesterday (14 September) joined Mayor Boris Johnson as he opened a new river pier at Vauxhall.

 

The ceremony, at St George’s Wharf, Vauxhall, saw the first new pier for eight years open to the Thames Clipper services.

 

Speaking after the ceremony, Mr Tracey, who has worked to secure the pier’s construction, said:

 

Richard Tracey promotes Clapham Junction for post-riot aid

Wandsworth’s London Assembly member, Richard Tracey today went into bat for Clapham Junction as he sought to help the area find funds to help it recover from August’s riots.

 

Speaking afterwards, Mr Tracey said:

 

“The Mayor said that Clapham Junction could apply for funds from the £40m Mayor’s Outer London Fund and that individual businesses can bid for money from his High Street Fund.

 

“I urge all businesses that need help recovering from August’s appalling criminality to seek the help offered by these two schemes.

Richard Tracey calls for future use of “smart water” to identify rioters and looters

Speaking at today’s plenary session of the London Assembly, Merton and Wandsworth’s London Assembly member, Richard Tracey, suggested using “smart water” to mark rioters making them easily identifiable to the police.

 

During today’s plenary session of the Assembly, Mr Tracey said:

 

“Perhaps you ought to be seriously considering using water cannon and smart water when combating rioters.”
