Kit Malthouse AM is concerned residents near Hyde Park may face severe disruption before, during and after the Olympics (totalling eight weeks) because of the creation of a so-called ‘Live Site’ in Hyde Park, which will show the 2012 Games on huge outdoors screens.
This morning, Westminster’s London Assembly Member, Mr Malthouse put residents’ fears to Neale Coleman, Director of London 2012 Coordination, the senior official responsible for coordinating the capital’s Live Sites.

Kit Malthouse, West Central London’s Assembly member today won the Mayor’s support in a campaign to cut the amount of night flying over London.
Quizzing Boris at Mayor’s Question Time this morning, Mr Malthouse drew his attention to next year’s Government consultation on the future of night flights over the capital after 2012 and asked him to make representation urging a reduction in the volume of air traffic allowed to fly over London between 2330hrs and 0600hrs.
The Mayor agreed to do so.

Kit Malthouse today demanded that the Mayor of London makes sure “grey-suited Olympic officials” based in the West End during in 2012 use the Jubilee Line to get to the Stratford-based Games.
Quizzing Boris Johnson at today’s Question Time, the Assembly Member for West Central said:
“Olympic officials demanded that we spend nearly £100million on Green Park station as part of the Games bid. This means that other stations such as South Kensington will miss out on their own step free access improvements.

Kit Malthouse, London Assembly Member for West Central, has presented a petition to Boris Johnson calling for a continuation of a congestion charge discount for the residents of Hyde Park ward, Westminster.
People living in the residential ward currently enjoy a 90% residents’ congestion charge discount because they live within the Western Extension Zone.
Yet when Western Extension Zone is abolished in 2010, Hyde Park ward will lie outside the charging zone, whilst the vast majority of local amenities will lie within it.

Kit Malthouse London Assembly member for West Central today welcomed London’s victory as the best city in the UK.
The accolade, awarded last night by Condé Nast Traveller readers, was won against competition from Edinburgh, Cambridge and Liverpool.
Commenting, Mr Malthouse said:
“This is a highly prestigious award and it’s great to have London recognized for being the excellent city that it is.
“But then again I happen to think it’s the greatest city in the world.
"I shall be working with the Mayor to ensure we build on this success."

News from Kit Malthouse - Cancelled hospital operations on the rise

More hospital operations are being cancelled at the last minute for non-clinical reasons than last year, according to figures released by the Department of Health.
This means that patients are having their procedures cancelled at very short notice due to reasons as varied as staff shortages or overbooked theatres.
