John Biggs, London Assembly member for City & East London, today expressed disbelief that the Olympic Games' Organisers (LOCOG) have failed to manage the London 2012 ticket selling operation properly.

 Tickets that were offered for sale at 11am on Wednesday are still for sale at 11am on Thursday. However when you place the tickets in your basket and try to reserve them the website says “No tickets found”.

Biggs Slams Olympic Park Public Lock Out

John Biggs has slammed the announcement by Olympic Officials that the public will not be able to use all of the Olympic Park venues until at least Easter 2014.

 The Legacy Corporation says the extraordinary delay is to allow for the redevelopment of the entire Olympic Park to make it “more urban and more public-friendly.

Local London Assembly member John Biggs today called for a tax on bank bonuses to fund work placements for unemployed 16-24 year olds to prevent another ‘lost generation’. The call follows a 102% per cent rise in the last year in number of young people out of work for over six months in Tower Hamlets.

 Local London Assembly member John Biggs said: “This Mayor and his Conservative government’s policies are failing, not only is Britain back in recession but now we find out that youth and long-term unemployment are rising sharply.”

Dear Editor

I am honoured to have been re-elected as Assembly Member for the constituency of City and East London, the area where I live and have been proud to serve for the last twelve years, and I would like to thank the voters for the overwhelming level of support they have given me.

 Despite not winning the Mayoralty we will  continue the serious business of scrutinising and holding the Mayor to account and my constituents can be assured I will continue to work hard on this.

Local London Assembly Member John Biggs has welcomed the news that Wapping London Overground station will remain open as usual on Marathon Day.  Previously, TfL have operated the station as “exit only” effectively leaving local residents stranded in Wapping.

Proposals for the closure of the Remploy Electronics and E-Cycle factory at Barking have been condemned by Local London Assembly Member John Biggs. The factory employs 60 local disabled people and has provided employment in the area for over 40 years.

NEWS FROM JOHN BIGGS; Hopes Dashed for Relaxation of Olympic Route Restrictions

Hopes have been dashed yet again for thousands of people who have to travel on East London’s roads during the Olympics who were told rules would be relaxed.  Despite further representations by Local London Assembly Member John Biggs, the Mayor and Transport for London have refused to relax the banned right hand turns or to re-instate pedestrian crossings on the Olympic Road Network and a scaling back of operating hours will not apply to any of East London’s roads.
