Tube boss confesses to London Assembly Member Joanne McCartney that the works and funding for the Piccadilly Line upgrade will not be known for years.
At the London Assembly Transport Committee Meeting this morning, Mike Brown, Managing Director of London Underground, told Joanne McCartney that funding and the future of the line will not be known until the end of this Parliament – another four years away.

The fare paying resident of Enfield & Haringey will be only too aware this week of the huge fare rises which Mayor Boris Johnson has now inflicted on the traveling public, especially those who use the bus network to get around.
Our buses have become, in recent years, a reliable and affordable way to get around, but people who want or need to travel in this way are now feeling the pinch of a huge 20% fare increase. A Pay As You Go Oyster journey now costs £1.20 while the cost of a weekly bus pass has also gone up 20% to £16.60.

Emergency life support (ELS) training teaches people the skills they need to help someone whose life is in danger but a London Assembly report has revealed that the capital has the lowest level of people trained in ELS in the country.
London has large numbers of people at high risk of having a heart attack or cardiac arrest, such as the South Asian communities, older people, those living in poverty, and people who have already had a heart attack.

Joanne McCartney, London Assembly Member for Enfield, has met the new police transport team in Enfield. Joanne chatted with the 18-strong team of Police Community Support Officers, two sergeants and two police constables.
Working in partnership with bus companies, TFL, London Underground and the Local Authority, the Transport Team will provide a visible and reassuring presence on buses and around public transport interchanges.
Mayor slashes bus fares in Enfield & Haringey

London Assembly Member for Enfield and Haringey, Joanne McCartney, has welcomed the Mayor’s announcement today that bus fares for London are to be slashed by 10%.
Oyster pre-pay users will now be charged just 90p for a bus journey at any time of day, while weekly bus pass users will also enjoy a discounted rate of £13 for a weekly pass – a pound off the current price. It is estimated that 1.6 million Londoners will benefit from the new lower fares.

Joanne McCartney, London Assembly Member for Enfield & Haringey, met new mothers and babies at a special drop-in session organised by trainee midwives at North Middlesex Hospital, as part of National Breastfeeding Awareness week.
The special event was organised by midwifery students in their third year of training to promote the benefits of breastfeeding.
