New Assembly Member appointed
Victoria Borwick MP resigned as an Assembly Member at the close of today’s London Assembly (Mayor’s Question Time) meeting.
Following the resignation and in accordance with the procedures in relation to vacancies in respect of London ‘list’ Members set out at section 11 of the Greater London Authority Act 1999 (as amended), Kemi Badenoch AM was declared a GLA Conservative Assembly Member, with immediate effect, filling the vacancy.
Kemi Badenoch AM has been appointed to the Police and Crime and the Transport Committees.
Tributes from all parties on the Assembly were made to Lady Borwick after Mayor’s Question Time and she was presented with a bouquet of flowers.
The role of the Assembly is to act as a check and balance on the activities of the Mayor of London.
