Why has TfL ordered more Routemasters?

Tomorrow the London Assembly Budget and Performance Committee will examine Transport for London (TfL) investment decision making – on the New Routemaster bus – as well as how emergency services in London will work together in line with new Government proposals.

In the first part of the session, the Committee will review TfL’s decision to purchase new Routemaster buses, despite previously telling the Committee they had no plans to order more. The guests are:

  • Leon Daniels, Managing Director, Surface Transport, TfL
  • Mike Weston, Director of Buses, TfL

The second part of the meeting will examine the implications for London of the Government’s announcement to increase collaboration between the emergency services.[1] The Committee will hear how the fire and rescue, ambulance and police services are currently working together in London, and discuss what plans they have to work together better going forward. The guests are:

  • Dr Fionna Moore MBE, Chief Executive of the London Ambulance Service
  • Craig Mackey QPM, Deputy Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police Service
  • Dave Brown, Director of Operations, London Fire Brigade
  • Sue Budden, Director of Finance and Contractual Services, London Fire Brigade
  • Tom Middleton, Head of Governance and Resilience, GLA
  • Helen Bailey, Chief Operating Officer, MOPAC
  • Rebecca Lawrence, Director of Strategy, MOPAC

The meeting will take place on Tuesday, 8 March from 10.00am in Committee Room 5 at City Hall (The Queen’s Walk, London SE1).
