Team Commonwealth Reception

6.30pm in London’s Living Room, City Hall

Organised in conjunction with The Royal Commonwealth Society (RCS), this reception during Commonwealth Week will celebrate the theme ‘Team Commonwealth’ in advance of the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games. Darren Johnson, Chair of the London Assembly, will provide a welcome speech alongside Claire Whitaker, Chair of the RCS and David Grevemberg, CEO of the Glasgow 2014 Organising Committee.

Housing Density in London

Planning Committee – 10am in Committee Room 5

The Planning Committee will discuss how London’s housing density is being managed in response to rapid population growth and the need for new homes in the capital.

The Committee will question the following guests:

Q&A with TfL

Transport Committee – 10am in the Chamber

The Transport Committee will be holding a question and answer session with TfL to explore a range of transport topics including proposals to close ticket offices at Tube stations.

The Committee will question the following guests:

· Sir Peter Hendy, CBE, Commissioner of Transport; and

· Mike Brown, Managing Director of London Underground and London Rail, TfL.

LPFA & Mayor’s Mentoring Programme

Oversight Committee – 2pm in Committee Room 5

The GLA Oversight Committee will be questioning the London Pensions Fund Authority (LPFA) about the governance of London’s £4.6 bn pension fund. They will also be examining the performance of the Mayor’s Mentoring Programme.

The Committee will be questioning the following guests:

· Jeff Jacobs, Head of Paid Service; and

The Met’s approach to Safeguarding

Safeguarding Working Group – 10am in The Chamber

The Working Group meeting will consider the strategic response to safeguarding children in London and will assess how the Met has responded to recommendations made in high profile cases and reviews.

The Committee will be questioning the following guests:

· Cheryl Coppell, Chief Executive, London Borough of Havering and Chair of London Safeguarding Children Board;

· Assistant Commissioner Mark Rowley, Metropolitan Police Service;

· Helen Bailey, Chief Operating Officer, Mayor’s Office for Policing and Crime; and

· Yvette Stanley, Director of Children’s Schools and Families, London Borough of Merton.
