In response to the Mayor’s newly appointed chair of the London Legacy Development Corporation standing down after only 3 months in post, local London Assembly member John Biggs said:
“Mr Moylan standing down is deeply disappointing, the last three months under his tenure have essentially been wasted. We need to make sure that the Olympic legacy is secured and no opportunities for the east end and wider London are missed. This newly formed corporation is supposed to spearhead the drive to regenerate the east end and secure the wider benefits of regeneration for London. The loss of it’s chair after just three months is deeply disappointing. The Mayor needs to act fast to secure the Olympics legacy, he should take the lead and make sure that people from east London are not left behind.
“When Mr Moylan was appointed we had serious reservations about his lack of regeneration experience and voted against his appointment. It appears our concerns have been borne out. It is a shame the mayor did not take our concerns on board, let’s hope when he makes a new appointment he listens to our views and avoid a repeat of this unfortunate episode. We have wasted three months under the mayor's appointment.
"The Assembly, in its confirmation hearing, warned the Mayor not to go ahead with this appointment. He ignored our concerns, Londoners need to reflect on his judgement."
