Local London Assembly Member John Biggs today welcomed consultation proposals from TfL to improve safety for cyclists at the highly dangerous Bow Roundabout junction. However, more needs to be done for pedestrians in the proposed schemes.
The proposals from the Mayor and TfL follow a two year campaign by John Biggs and other local groups to improve safety at the junction for all road users and pedestrians.
Local London Assembly member, John Biggs said: “This consultation from TfL is a welcome first step, however, the mayor needs to address the pressing issue of pedestrian safety at this junction as the proposals do nothing for their safety. Given the recent tragic fatalities at the roundabout these proposed measures must be welcomed, but I will continue to campaign for a longer term comprehensive solution that meets the needs of pedestrians as well.
“I am inviting local residents and groups to send me their ideas and comments on TfL’s proposals as soon as possible."
