News from Joanne McCartney: Comment from Joanne McCartney AM on West Anglia Line four-tracking

Created on
06 October 2015

Responding to Sir Peter Hendy’s announcement that Network Rail intend to double the number of lines along the West Anglia Line to Stansted from two to four, Local Labour Assembly Member Joanne McCartney AM said:

“I welcome the commitment that Sir Peter Hendy has given to doubling the number of lines along the West Anglia line to Stansted to four. Increasing the number of lines along this route has been a key issue which I have raised repeatedly and with the Mayor and Sir Peter in his previous role as Commissioner of Transport for London over the past few years, where he originally indicated his support.

“Whilst this is promising news, Sir Peter now needs to ensure that Network Rail work on this as soon as possible. Four-tracking of this line has been long needed to ensure that our transport infrastructure can keep up with the increasing population in the Capital and will help to bring economic benefits, including employment and housing to Enfield and Haringey.”
