Grid-locked London – congestion questions

As part of its investigation into London’s congested roads, tomorrow the London Assembly Transport Committee will visit two sites:

10:00am Go-Ahead iBus Hub (service control centre)

Binfield Rd, London SW4 6ST

The Go-Ahead Group operates around a quarter of London’s buses on behalf of TfL.

Assembly Members will observe technology used to manage the Go-Ahead fleet and discuss:

  • How congestion affects bus service performance
  • Concerns about empty buses contributing to congestion in central London
  • Future plans to reduce and/or redirect bus routes
  • Tracking congestion with iBus technology
  • Falls in traffic speed and journey time reliability
  • Increases in excess waiting times for buses

Assembly Members will visit TfL’s offices at Palestra to tour the Surface Traffic Control Centre and Rail and Underground Control Centre and receive a briefing from managers.
