Cycling flagship welcome, but rest of London needs “swift action”

Darren Johnson has welcomed the go ahead for the East-West Cycling Superhighway, but has raised doubts about the progress of the other superhighways and the safer junctions program.

Darren commented,

“The go ahead for the East-West cycling superhighway is very welcome, as it will be a major contribution to make our streets safer for people who wish to cycle, but we now need swift action on the rest of London. A large section of this superhighway will not be finished until after 2016, along with around half of the Mayor’s superhighways and the majority of the work to create safer junctions. There are hundreds of dangerous junctions across all areas of London, but this Mayor will manage to finish ten by the time he leaves office.”
