Responding to the Mayor of London’s proposals to clean up ‘London’s toxic air’ with proposals that include extending the Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) to the North Circular and South Circular Road and purchasing only hybrid or zero-emission double-decker buses from 2018, Green Party Member of the London Assembly Caroline Russell commented,

“While I warmly welcome the Mayor’s intention to expand the ULEZ to the North and South Circular, it’s essential that all outer London boroughs should also have the ability to opt in right from the beginning. There are a lot of heavily polluted main roads beyond the ring road where residents will want cleaner air.”

“The Mayor should also go further and make sure the entire bus fleet is cleaned up by 2020 at the latest.”
