About the scheme

London is a great city to live and work in, but sometimes we all need a bit of green space to relax, exercise, play sport, see wildlife, or just meet up with friends.

We are fortunate that London has more parks, commons, heaths, public gardens and open spaces than most other capital cities, but whilst many of these are attractive and welcoming, there are still many green spaces in London that are not. Many are not well used because they are run down.

The Mayor believes parks and open spaces are key to the capital’s quality of life, and will invest £6 million in improving the quality and safety of London's parks, funded from efficiency savings from the previous administration’s publicity budget.

He also places a high priority on clean, safe and attractive green spaces for all Londoners to enjoy, and the Help a London Park scheme has been developed as part of his initiative to clean up and improve London’s rundown green spaces.

The scheme will improve ten parks across London, but the best part is that you, Londoners, had the opportunity to choose which are chosen and improved.

The overall aim for the winning parks will be to make each one cleaner, safer, greener and nicer places to visit, with actual work on the chosen parks taking place over the following two years.

Forty seven deserving parks have been selected, for you to choose from. To make it easier they have been divided into five London sub-regions (North West, North, North East, South East and South West) with around ten parks per sub-region to vote on. The winners will be the two parks in each of the five London sub-regions, which get the most votes.

If you want more information about the parks follow the links to the sub-regions in the paragraph above.

Full details of the results are available from the results page.
