About the Parade

All the athletes who went to Beijing were invited to attend the parade, and some 500 took part in the event, giving Londoners a unique opportunity to see their sporting heroes.

The parade began in front of the Mansion House in the City at 11am. Athletes the travelled on a series of floats, on a journey that took them down Queen Victoria Street and past St Paul's Cathedral. They then headed down Fleet Street, past the Royal Courts of Justice and down the Strand.

Timings

People will be able to watch the floats all along the route. Key timings include:

11:05am
In the presence of the Right Honourable Lord Mayor of London, David Lewis, the parade begins in front of the Mansion House in the City of London, going down Queen Victoria Street.

11:30pm
St Paul's Cathedral. Then down Fleet Street.

Midday
Royal Courts of Justice, where The Lord Mayor of Westminster, Councillor Louise Hyams, greets the parade as it passes the Royal Courts of Justice and enters Westminster and moves down the Strand.

12:30pm
First float arrives in Trafalgar Square.

1:15pm
Final float arrives, all athletes assemble on platform overlooking Trafalgar Square and facing Nelson's Column.

1:30pm
