Since the introduction of the JSA and ESA concessionary bus and tram fares on 2 April, how many people have taken up the concession in total and by borough, and how many Londoners are now eligible for it?

Answer by Boris Johnson (1st Term)

The total number of Bus & Tram Discount photocards issued during April (JSA/IS/ESA claimants) was 13,507.

A breakdown of photocards issued by Borough is attached as Appendix D.

At the end of April 2009 it is estimated around 50,000 Londoners were eligible for JSA discount scheme.

It is estimated that up to around 200,000 to 250,000 IS/ESA claimants in London are eligible for the Bus & Tram scheme discounts, of which 70,000 are already claiming the IS/ESA.
