Assembly examines mentoring and support for children in care

The London Assembly Time for Action panel will tomorrow question the following guests about the role of mentoring and support for children in care as part of the Mayor’s strategy to tackle serious youth violence in the capital..
- Pam Chester, Mayor’s Advisor on Health and Families;
- Steve Matthews, Chief Executive Mentoring and Befriending Foundation; and
- Helen Hibbert, Strategic Director, Partnership for Young London.
Launched in November 2008 “Time for Action”[1] aimed to “set out practical strategies for harnessing and re-directing the energies that lead to youth violence”.
In December 2008 the Panel responded[2] to the Mayor’s proposals with a number of recommendations to strengthen programmes to tackle youth violence.
The meeting will take place on Thursday, 21 July from 10qm in the Chamber at City Hall (The Queen’s Walk, London SE1).
