News from Victoria Borwick: “Sir Paul Stephenson will be a loss to London”, says Victoria Borwick AM

15 JULY 2011

Commenting today following the resignation of Metropolitan Police Commissioner, Sir Paul Stephenson, Londonwide Assembly Member Victoria Borwick said:

"Sir Paul Stephenson focused on tackling crime and under his watch crime has fallen across the capital. The murder rate is at its lowest level since 1978 and Londoners can feel safer in their city.

“Sir Paul has focused on reducing crime and at a time of stringent budgets. He has kept police on the streets by introducing single patrolling, which means there are now one million more police patrols a year in London.

“He is the policeman’s policeman. He commands huge respect and I, like many other people, am very sad to see him leave as Met Police Commissioner.”
