News from Len Duvall: Winter Fare Freeze

30 OCTOBER 2007

Len Duvall London Assembly Member, for Greenwich and Lewisham, said:

"This is yet another example of London’s success being shared with all Londoners. The recent 10% reduction in single bus fares, the half price bus travel scheme for those on income support, and the free travel passes for children and older and disabled people have all been made possible because of record passenger numbers and the economic success of the city."

Notes for editors

1. Len Duvall has been Assembly Member for Greenwich and Lewisham since 2000
2. Single bus fares are frozen. This follows the 10 per cent Oyster Pay As You Go bus and tram fare cuts introduced in September, and will mean a single bus journey remains at 90p.
3. The weekly bus pass was reduced from £14 to £13 in September and it too will be frozen for the coming year. The One Day Bus Pass is frozen at £3.50. Only a little more than two per cent of bus journeys are now paid in cash.
4. Passengers will also be able to use Oyster and Travelcards on TfL’s new London Overground service next year, after the North London Railway transfers to TfL on 11th November 2007
