Westminster World Heritage Site

Westminster World Heritage Site cross-section

The Palace of Westminster and Westminster Abbey including St Margaret’s Church were inscribed on the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites in 1987, in recognition of the outstanding universal architectural, historic and symbolic significance of this group of buildings and spaces.

A Management Plan for the Westminster World Heritage Site has been prepared, overseen by a group of organisations including the GLA. It is available to download via English Heritage's website:

Westminster World Heritage Site Management Plan PDF (6MB)

It may be downloaded in smaller parts via English Heritage's free publications 'W' page, under 'Westminster'.
