London Sustainability Weeks 2007Love London, Love your planet!
London Sustainability Weeks is a two week festival celebrating local action for sustainability all over London. The festival takes place from 3-17 June 2007, coinciding with World Environment Day on 5 June, and this year will mark the 5th birthday of the campaign since it first began in 2002. The Mayor is glad to support London 21 (the charity that coordinates the campaign) in raising awareness of the festival and publicising promotional materials. The theme of this year’s Sustainability Weeks will be Climate Change and London will be teaming up with Amsterdam, who will be running their first Sustainability Weeks simultaneously, so that action for sustainability will be spreading across the globe. Events are organised by community groups, charities, multi-faith groups, local authorities, NGOs and local sustainable businesses, in fact anyone can organise an event so long as it focuses in some way on green and sustainable issues and involves the community. There are now over two hundred events happening across London and highlight events include the Camden Green Fair and the Greenfest in West London. To find out about local events in your area go to www.lovelondon.org.uk where you can search and find full event details. Alternatively go to www.londongreenmap.org where you can view a map of green things going on in your area, including London Sustainability Weeks events, and search for events by postcode or by borough.
