Sub Regional Development FrameworksIn May 2006 the Mayor published five Sub Regional Development Frameworks (SRDFs), which are available for download via the links below. This follows their release in draft for public consultation during 2005.
Background to the SRDFsImplementation of a strategy covering a city with a population the size of Switzerland poses distinct challenges, not least when it also has to accommodate growth over fifteen years equivalent to the present population of Leeds. The London Plan faces these challenges. To help meet them the Mayor has produced Sub Regional Development Frameworks to provide a convenient step between the broad policies of his London Plan and their more local implementation through the plans and actions of the 33 London Boroughs and other stakeholders. This sub-regional approach to planning implementation is something of an innovation for British planning. The SRDFs are non-statutory documents, giving them flexibility in their use and implementation. In his proposed Further Alterations to the London Plan, the Mayor will propose different sub-regional grouping. However, the information contained in these SRDFs will remain valuable.
