Vauxhall Nine Elms Battersea Opportunity Area Planning FrameworkConsultation Draft, November 2009The London Plan identifies Opportunity Areas across the capital, identifying them as places in London with the potential to accommodate substantial numbers of new jobs and homes. Vauxhall Battersea Nine Elms is such an area, which also forms part of the Central Activities Zone in central London, and as such presents a unique set of challenges and opportunities, lying within the boroughs of Lambeth and Wandsworth. The Vauxhall Nine Elms Battersea Opportunity Area Planning Framework (OAPF) has been prepared in partnership with the London Development Agency, Transport for London, Lambeth Council, Wandsworth Council and English Heritage. The study recommends that in order to enable and support a high density development scenario (such as the OAPF’s ‘revised scenario 5’) a package of strategic transport measures, such as an extension of the Northern Line to serve the OA, supported by a series of more local transport improvements, will be required.
