The 2012 Olympic Games and culture

Please use the following link for ‘Inclusive and Active’ - A Sport and Physical Activity Action Plan for Disabled People in London 2007-2012

London is one of the cultural capitals of the world. The Olympic and Paralympic Games are an opportunity to showcase all the cultural offerings of the capital to an international audience.

The 2012 London Olympic and Paralympic Games will be accompanied by a four-year cultural festival. This will start at the end of the Beijing Games in summer 2008 and continue over the period of the London Games in summer 2012. The festival will take place across the whole of London and will celebrate every element of the vibrant cultural life of the UK and its capital through events, exhibitions and educational activities.

The cultural festival will provide a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for London's creative industries and artists to flourish and to show their work to a global audience. Cultural events will blend into the programme of the Games themselves, allowing Londoners to take part in the greatest show on earth, which will leave a lasting impression on its thousands of visitors.
