- Disability Capital - a conference
series and major initiative focussing on the civil rights of disabled
people in London
- The Sexual Orientation Equality Scheme outlines
the methods the GLA uses now, and will use in the future, to ensure
it promotes LGB equality and challenges discrimination and prejudice on
the basis of sexual orientation
- The London Carers Alliance, to be launched
in summer 2008, will help improve the lives of carers in London
and raise the profile of carers’ issues.
- Reporting Asylum - the local press
awards recognise
good practice in coverage of refugee and asylum issues. The 2007
awards were presented by the Mayor and Shami Chakrabarti
in December 2007
- The Mayor of London hosted a range of events and activities to mark
the European Year of Equal Opportunities for
All in 2007
- The Mayor became responsible for strategic leadership
of refugee integration work in April 2006, and to help
him carry out this work has set up the Board
for Refugee Integration in London (BRIL) and the Mayor's Refugee Advisory
Panel
- The Young London website provides
information about life in London for children and young people and also
those helping them have a say
- The Mayor has set up his London
Equalities Commission to advocate, encourage,
support and promote equalities in London
- Liberty - London's Disability Rights Festival -
held in Trafalgar Square, an annual free festival that champions
the rights of disabled people and showcases the work of disabled
artists and performers
- The London Older People’s Resource Facility offers free computer services, desk space and GLA officer support to older people’s organisations and individuals.
- Rise student week is a chance for students to celebrate London as the world's most multicultural city - and to take a stand against racism
- Strategy for children and young people - after consultation with Londoners including children and young people, the Mayor has published his plans to make London a more child-friendly city
- London Partnerships Register -
set up by the Mayor in September 2001, pioneering recognition
of the rights of gay and lesbian couples; closed in
December 2005 when it was superseded by Civil Parnerships
- The Mayor supports the Gay Data initiative, a listings service providing information for London's lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender
communities
- Equalities Toolkit - this good practice document for GLA staff, also made publicly available, contains detailed advice and checklists to ensure that for example publications and events are accessible to all
