Music and DanceAt the foot of Nelson’s Column, an eclectic selection of bands and DJs selected by Club Attitude provide an up-beat soundtrack reflecting a range of contemporary city sounds featuring: 1.00pm, Chilled Drum 'n' Bass from DJ Void 1.30pm, Soul funk and disco beats from Blind Bling 2.00pm, Passionate alternative rock from hotly tipped Freeslave 2.30pm, Pop and R ‘n’ B from Richard West 3.00pm,& Islington's finest Hip-Hop crew Xtreme Link 4.00pm, Soul funk and disco beats from Blind Bling 4.30pm, Positive punk energy from Brighton's Heavy Load 5.00pm, Pop and R ‘n’ B from Richard West Curated by: Grae J Wall Street artsTwo extraordinary spectacles will fill Trafalgar Square’s magnificent central stairs and lower terrace. 3.30pm, Heart ‘n Soul’s “Look!” features a cast of 60 budding performers spotted on the dance floors of The Beautiful Octopus Club and The Squidz Club. This site-specific piece, choreographed by Fiona Findlay with Heart 'n Soul Dance, is in three parts, with each section having a distinct musical accompaniment provided by three acts: The Fish Police; Smith & Long; and Mark Williams & Stefan Nowak. Working with conceptual artists Catherine Long and Danny Nasipour Smith and costume designer Cornelius, “Look!” promises to be a trailblazing and inspirational occasion. 5.30pm, The Alexandras present an uplifting extravaganza ablaze with feathers, sequins, swans and stilettos directed by Jenny Sealey. Integrating sign song and choreography, “Priscilla Queen of the Deaf World” features performances from Caroline Parker, Daryl Jackson and Mark Smith, joined by Miro Civin, Milton Lopez and Matt Stevens. With an exciting new look for 2007 from Renaissance Creative Design, the Alexandras triumphantly return to Liberty with a bigger, bolder and extravagantly over the top finale! Curated by: Greenwich+Docklands Festivals Aerial and CircusHave a go at circus skills with activities including unicycling, tightrope, rolling globe, juggling, hula hoop and Diabolo. Look out for jaw-dropping rope and tissue performances on a specially erected rig from emerging disabled aerial artists including 10 year old Jacob Nichols and Vicky Malin, who has performed with Blue Eyed Soul. 1.30pm, 2.30pm and 5.00pm, Vicky Malin 1.45pm, 2.45pm and 5.15pm, Jacob Nichols 4.00pm, young aerialists from Albert & Friends Instant Circus Curated by: Albert & Friends Instant Circus Children’s artsUnder 8s are invited to a very special Trafalgar Square garden party. Explore an enchanting sensory world with birds hovering in the branches, a vegetable patch and even a fountain! Garden Party guests can enjoy the sights and smells, take part in workshops to make a flower, a wishing stone, a large leaf, puppets and masks or just sit on the grass for some alfresco performances from Jason Maverick. 1.30pm, 2.30pm and 4.00pm, Jason Maverick Curated by: Kazzum CarnivalTaking inspiration from its flagship partnership festival - BonkersFest! - and celebrating madness, creativity and diversity, Creative Routes embarks on a boldly mad and experimental approach to participatory arts with its own unique vision of 21st century carnival. 1.15pm and 4.45pm, Creative Routes Samba Drummers with the London School of Samba 2.30pm and 4.00pm, “The BonkersFest! Wright – London’s only flour mill Comedy and CabaretUnique stand up from Paul Betney, just back from Edinburgh with his hilarious show “Unshakeable”, joined by Liz Bentley, who recently wowed audiences with her solo show “I’ve only got myself to blame”. Liz Carr promises, in the words of The Guardian, “to bring the house down with a cocktail of caustic observational gags”, all held in check by the inimitable performer, producer and writer Deborah Williams, in a 30 minute charm offensive with themes voted by the audience! 1.30pm, 2.30pm, 4.00pm and 5.00pm Curated by: Julie McNamara Visual arts and FilmThe Visual arts and Film zone explores the theme “ME, MYSELF, EYE!” Highlights include “Wheel-in Movies”, featuring a programme of short films dedicated to personal stories, speaking out and seeing the funny side of life, as well as the chance to work on the creation of a large scale piece of art with artist Sally Booth. Then have your say in our very own video ‘Byte Booth’. Screening times will be displayed on signs at the Liberty Information and Access areas and the Visual arts and Film zone on the day.
