Immigration, refugees and asylum

Immigration is part of London's history, one of the main drivers of its social and economic development, and the main source of its cultural and ethnic diversity. With more than a third of all working-age Londoners born outside the UK, migrants make a large contribution to London's economy.

Refugees and asylum seekers are part of London’s immigrant population. The Mayor sees refugees’ potential to contribute to London’s and, through his lead role on refugee integration in London, he is working to ensure they fulfil it.
