Waste and climate changeGreenhouse gas balances of waste management scenariosThe GLA commissioned research into the greenhouse gas impacts of waste management scenarios using lifecycle analysis methods. The goal of the study is to measure and rank a range of residual waste management scenarios with regard to their performance on greenhouse gas emissions. Each scenario includes a number of waste management techniques and technologies including anaerobic digestion, gasification, incineration, autoclave and landfill. The results for this study will supplement the evidence base that will inform the development of the Mayors second Municipal Waste Management Strategy. The full technical report is available to download as one file: Full Technical Report PDF A non-technical summary of the research is also available: A study into the greenhouse gas balances of waste management scenarios PDF The appendices of the full technical report are also available individually: Appendix 1 Scenario schematics PDF only The methodology used to undertake the work and the conclusions drawn were independently reviewed by EMRC Consulting.
