Connecting Londoners with Trees and Woodlands

A Tree and Woodland Framework for London – published March 2005

People in the shade of a tree

The Mayor of London, the Greater London Authority, the Forestry Commission and other partners are firmly committed to maintaining and enhancing London’s trees and woodland as a vital part of the environment of Greater London.

Trees and woodlands are good for Londoners, good for visitors to London, and good for business in London. The London Tree and Woodland Framework shows us why, and tells us what we should do to maximise their contribution to London’s quality of life. More information and links to the full document and an introductory leaflet are available on the Framework details page.

The Mayor and the Forestry Commission have appointed a Framework Manager (hosted by the Forestry Commission) to deliver the objectives and actions in the Framework. The Framework Manager’s contact details, and some of the achievements so far are highlighted on the Latest Framework Initiatives page.

Many organisations are working on projects to protect or promote trees. Highlights of some projects and links to partners’ websites are available on the Partners and Projects Page
