Filming of Thunderbirds in July 2004: a 'Flying Pictures' helicopter passing under Tower Bridge

Film London is an agency set up to support the growth and development of film, TV, video, commercials and interactive media in London, and to reduce the bureaucratic barriers and perception that London is a difficult city in which to make films. It aims to sustain, promote and develop London as a major international film-making and film cultural capital.

Film London logoFilm London was established under the aegis of UK Film Council, London Development Agency and Skillset and is supported by the Mayor of London via the LDA.

Millions of pounds worth of films have been shot in the capital since Film London was established - for example

  • Thunderbirds - see picture above
  • Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason
  • Closer, with Jude Law and Julia Roberts
  • Enduring Love, based on the Ian McEwan novel
  • Woody Allen's 'London movie', with Scarlett Johansson

The film and media industry employs over 100,000 people in London, making this one of our most important and fastest growing industries.
