Halloween and fireworks

Halloween 2007

Working with boroughs and other agencies the Mayor is coordinating a pan-London approach to tackling anti-social behaviour over the Halloween and Bonfire Night period in 2007. The London Halloween and fireworks initiative has been developed to:

  • Reduce the anti-social behaviour associated with the Halloween and firework period in London.
  • Coordinate efforts to reduce anti-social use of fireworks at a local level, strengthen enforcement work, reassure local communities and increase quality of life and feelings of safety.
  • Highlight and promote the initiatives that are already making a difference in reducing anti-social behaviour associated with Halloween and fireworks.
  • Share that learning more widely – ensuring best practice is passed on and replicated.
  • Increase awareness of firework safety – and reduce the number of firework related injuries.

Publicity

A number of publicity materials to support the campaign are being produced by the Mayor. These include…

Credit card sized leaflets distributed by Safer Neighbourhoods teams, for young people providing advice on how to stay safe and behave considerately over the Halloween and firework period.
