London
is the economic engine of the UK. When the capital prospers, the whole
country prospers. But perhaps surprisingly London has the highest poverty
rate in England and some of the worst housing, public health and homelessness
in the UK. Londoners are punished by paying over £20 billion more in tax
than they receive in public spending.
