The GLA Architecture and Urbanism Unit (AUU) has been brought together with the London Development Agency’s design team and the urban design team from Transport for London to establish Design for London, which was launched in February 2007.

  • East London Green Grid Primer - working to provide East London residents and workers with a multi-functional network of strategic open space and in turn improved quality of life
  • Guide to Competitive Selection of Designers - The Greater London Authority Group including the London Development Agency and Transport for London are committed to raising the level of design in their wide range of initiatives and are therefore committed to best practice in commissioning project designs.
  • Living Roofs - working to promote roof terraces, roof gardens and green roofs across London.
  • The Mayor's 100 Public Spaces Programme - publications include 'Making Space for Londoners', describing the programme and the ten pilot projects; an update on the pilot projects; and the launch of the second and third phases of the programme.
  • Housing for a Compact City - the importance of good design in creating sucessful neighbourhoods, illustrated by a selection of well-designed residential developments in European cities.
  • The London Riverside Urban Strategy - the development framework for a new mixed urban centre on the River Thames, across six square kilometres from Barking Creek to Rainham Marshes.
