HS2 Environment Statement Response

24 February 2014

High Speed Two is a new high speed railway proposed by the Government.  Its construction will take years to complete and its impacts on the capital will be many.

The terminus will be at Euston and near Euston it will also connect to the High Speed One line - which runs from St Pancras to the Channel Tunnel.

Phase one of the route will go to Birmingham. Then, eventually, as part of Phase 2 it will be extended to Manchester, Sheffield, Leeds and further north.

The London Assembly Environment Committee has been looking into the affects this massive construction project will have on London - it's roads, infrastructure, businesses and people.

It has responded to a draft Environmental Statement issued by the Government and has now responded to the latest Environmental Statement.
