CEO, A1 Technologies Ltd

I am the CEO of A1 Technologies Ltd, a high technology SME based in Walthamstow, east London.

A1 specialises in high technology innovative products, based around the world of 3D. It is unique in its positioning and products. It has a portfolio of products, all to do with using IT for designing in 3D and then making physical models, also in three dimensions. The products are accessible, exciting to use and the lowest cost in the world. A1’s aim is to enable everyone to explore and use the world of 3D design. I founded A1 with Trupti Patel in early 2009.

For the previous 30 years, I worked at Unimatic Engineers Ltd, a family business, and supplemented my management education with an MBA from London Business School.

I am involved in a number of activities to support education, skills and the manufacturing sector, which include:

• Chairman of Made in London which represents all the manufacturers and production companies in London.
• Over the years, member of several committees within the CBI, including the SME and the Technology & Innovation Committees. In 2005 I joined the Education & Skills Committee, and in 2007 was seconded onto the London Council.
• Chair of Associates Committee of D&TA (Design and Technology Association) – D&TA is the subject association for Design & Technology in the Primary and Secondary education sectors.

In my spare time (!), I enjoy skiing and water-skiing, reading and theatre, and driving my children around.
