Councillor Nicholas Stanton
Leader of Southwark Council

Councillor Nick Stanton has been Leader of Southwark Council since May 2002. In that time the Council’s CPA rating has increased from ‘Weak’ to ‘Good’; the Health and Adult Care Department has been awarded 3 Stars and the Council has been named the Local Government Chronicle’s Most Improved Council.

Nick has been a councillor since 1998 and was awarded an OBE in the 2009 New Years Honours list for services to local government.

He lives in Bermondsey with his wife and two children. Prior to his election as leader, Nick was a practicing barrister.
