Mike Westcott
Global HR Director – National Grid

Mike joined National Grid in January 2007 as the Global HR Director. Mike is responsible for HR across the company to provide Board with assurance that National Grid has in place a range of policies and frameworks to ensure attraction, retention and development of employees to support its objectives.

Prior to working at National Grid, Mike worked for Diageo from 1993 to the end of 2006, most recently heading up HR for Diageo North America based in Connecticut. In this role he led the integration of Seagram PLC into Diageo North America. Mike also upgraded the approach to talent and leadership development, resulting in a new process for Executive development being rolled out worldwide across Diageo. Prior to his move to the US he headed up HR for Diageo International Markets covering Asia, Middle East, Latin America and Eastern Europe.

Mike has also held roles as Head of Management Development for Guinness and HR Director for Guinness UK. Prior to this, he held various HR roles at ICI and BOC.

Outside Interests:
Mike is married with three young children and spends the majority of his spare time with his family. He is a keen sportsman, rowing competitively to keep fit. He also enjoys skiing and golf.
