London boroughs
The 33 London boroughs play a key role in London’s food system. Whether through the delivery of school meals, planning regulation, environmental health officers or through the nutrition work of health agencies, London’s boroughs and local borough organisations influence the food system at a local level. Some of the best examples of positive actions to tackle food related issues have come from London boroughs. Seventeen London boroughs have their own food strategies or food policies. Where such strategies are in place these have catalysed local partnerships to coordinate action on food work.
London Food aims to support and to promote the work of local food groups. We run a Boroughs Subgroup that meets quarterly to discuss specific issues and to provide an opportunity for networking and sharing of best practice.
The next boroughs meeting will be held in September and will focus on London’s bees.
Through this website we also aim to highlight best practice and share learning through highlighting case studies from local projects. We have collected a few which you can find by following the links below. We are keen to hear from other projects and to highlight successes. If you have a case study that you think would be good to highlight on these pages or for further information on the boroughs Subgroup please contact Jonathan Pauling on 020 7983 4595 or email jonathan.pauling@london.gov.uk
