About the Partnership

The Partnership’s principal objective is to work towards the establishment of a hydrogen economy for London and the UK.

It aims to:

  1. establish and maintain dialogue among all sectors/actors relevant to the hydrogen economy
  2. prepare and disseminate relevant materials
  3. deliver the London Hydrogen Action Plan as a route map for clean energy
  4. provide a platform for funding bids and initiating projects

The Partnership, set up in 2002, consists of an Executive Committee, two Project Groups and a Secretariat.

Executive Committee

The Executive Committee directs the activities of the Project Groups to identify and enable projects under the Action Plan, and assist members to deliver Partnership objectives.  The Executive Committee is chaired by Deputy Mayor Kit Malthouse.

Project Groups

There are two Project Groups:  the Infrastructure & Vehicles Group and the Stationary Applications Group.  The Infrastructure & Vehicles Group is working to deliver demonstration & deployment projects of early commercial hydrogen and fuel cell vehicles, as well as a series of interconnecting hydrogen refuelling facilities in London.

The Stationary Group is working to roll out a series of high profile fuel cell demonstration and deployment projects for both public and commercial buildings.

Secretariat

The Partnership is supported by a Secretariat, which is currently based at City Hall and is responsible for co-ordinating the Partnership’s day-to-day activities.  The Secretariat is working to drive the development of priority, high-profile demonstration projects and to increase awareness of the Partnership’s activities, and hydrogen and fuel cell technology in general.
