Integrated Impact Assessment (IIA)
The LHC Urban Development and Regeneration Forum led an integrated impact assessment (IIA) of the Sub Regional Development Frameworks. This pilot projectintegrated health impact assessment into the statutory process of Sustainability Assessment and Strategic Environmental Assessment. The assessment team worked alongside the London Plan team as they developed these spatial planning documents. The results of the IIA have strengthened health input into the Sub Regional Development Frameworks.
This learning will be used to strengthen the health input in statutory assessments being undertaken for the 'Review' of the London Plan.
A more comprehensive Resource for Health Impact Assessment has been produced, in two volumes. Volume I provides an overview of the models and application of HIA. Volume II provides twenty case studies, taken from around the country, and covering:
- policy appraisal
- transport
- air quality
- regeneration
- housing
- social and environmental impact assessment
- health inequalities impact assessment
These volumes are available from our Publications page.
HIA is a priority approach of the London Health Commission. We are committed to undertaking HIA to support the development of effective policy and practice in London. For example, we have used HIA to support the development of the Mayor of London's draft strategies - click on each title below to download the relevant HIA report (PDF).
