London Culture and 2012 Open Meeting
December 2010
Hosted by the London Cultural Strategy Group and the Mayor of London, the Open Meeting was an opportunity for cultural organisations and practitioners in London to learn the latest plans for cultural activities related to the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games and to understand opportunities to get involved.
Following the successful 2009 event, this year the Open Meeting was repeated in two venues across London featuring presentations, Q&A and breakout sessions on the London Outdoor Festival, the Spectaculars, the Culture Diary and 2012 Marketing & Promotion, London 2012 Festival, Cultural Olympiad programmes, Big Dance, Volunteering, Inspire and much more.
Speakers included Ruth Mackenzie (Director of the Cultural Olympiad, LOCOG), Munira Mirza (Mayoral Advisor for Arts and Culture), Moira Sinclair (LCSG member and Area Executive Director, Arts Council England) plus representatives from LOCOG, GLA, 5 Host Boroughs and many others. Over 450 representatives from the cultural sector attended the event.
We launched and updated copy of ‘London Culture and 2012’, a basic guide to getting involved in the capital’s cultural celebrations. Read the guide here.

London Culture and 2012 Open Meeting

Hosted by the London Cultural Strategy Group and the Mayor of London, the Open Meeting was an opportunity for cultural organisations and practitioners in London to learn about the latest plans for cultural activities related to the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games and to understand how to get involved.
The afternoon brought together presentations and Q&A on 2012 Cultural Events Planning, Visitor Attractions, Torch Relay and Ceremonies, Inspire Mark, Big Dance and much more. Speakers included: Iwona Blazwick (Chair of LCSG and Director of Whitechapel Gallery), Munira Mirza (Mayor’s Office), Tony Hall (Chair of Cultural Olympiad Board) plus representatives from LOCOG, LDA, Visit London and many others.

Cultural Consortium Open Meeting
31 January 2008
Around 170 representatives of London's cultural sector attended the Consortium's annual Open Meeting. Speakers included Chris Smith, Chair of the Consortium; Judith Woodward, the Mayor's Advisor on Culture, Tourism and Creative Industries; Bill Morris, Director of Culture, Ceremonies and Education for London 2012; and the poet and writer Ben Okri. Attendees heard about the Consortium's activities and other 'big picture' developments for London culture in 2007, and contributed their ideas for the future.
