London's climate
Londoners and the city’s built environment will be particularly affected by climate change. The key climate-related impacts that London experiences are:
- Hotter average temperatures than the rest of the country
- Flash flooding due to the large amounts of impermeable surfacing (roads, buildings, pavements, etc), and flooding from the tributaries feeding into the Thames
- Water scarcity due to the London’s growing population and increasing water use per capita, while living in an area of recognised water stress.
