Description of park

Mayesbrook Park is a large park on the border between Barking and Dagenham. The park hosts two large lakes, a number of sports pitches and a children’s playground. There is currently no clear centre of the park.

How the park is being improved

The aim for Mayesbrook Park is to improve facilities for the wider community, restore the Mayes Brook to a more natural form and develop the park as a model for climate change adaptation.

The Mayor is funding Phase 1 improvements to Mayesbrook Park including:

  • Restoration of the Mayes Brook
  • Improvements to park entrances
  • New site furniture including litter bins and seating
  • New signage for the park

Progress

The river works, the main element of the improvements, are now complete. The entrances have been improved, site furniture such as new bins and benches has been installed and the new shades and signage will be installed in February. Planting is taking place over winter.
