Description of park
The large Avery Hill Park in Eltham offers views across south-east London. Most of the park is open grass and is used mainly used for sport. Before the improvements, the park had few amenities and suffered from antisocial behaviour.
How the park is being improved
The aim is to make Avery Hill Park a more welcoming park, through improving accessibility and entrances and providing a greater variety of activities.
The Mayor is helping to fund improvements to Avery Hill Park including:
- Installation of a performance facility
- Enhanced entrances
- New signage
- Restored railings
- A new multi use games area
- Path repairs
- Tree and bulb planting
Progress
Most of the work is now complete. This includes the multi use games area, railings, path repairs and the improved entrances. The remaining works will be finished by March 2012 ready to be enjoyed.
