This scheme, funded by TfL, has delivered a 275 metres or new shared cycle and pedestrian routes. The North to South route links Chadville Gardens, Alexandra Road and Japan Road, and the East to West route links Alexandra Road and Park Lane in the neighbouring borough of Redbridge.

Camden

Camden High Street

This scheme has delivered widened footways and a much improved streetscene for the section of road from Camden Town Station to the Regents Canal. This scheme has been funded entirely by London Borough of Camden. In the longer term TfL and Camden will work together to deliver improvements to the southern section of the street and at Britannia Junction outside Camden Town Underground Station.

Great Queen Street

This scheme, part funded by TfL and delivered by London Borough of Camden, has seen the removal of unnecessary traffic signals and the creation of a new public space. This new space is at the heart of a new walking route which runs from Covent Garden to Holborn Circus.

Croydon

Coulsdon Town Centre

This town centre improvement scheme, funded by TfL, has focussed on the improvement of traffic congestion and increased pedestrian priority. Traffic signals have been removed and new pedestrian crossings have been installed among other improvements. This scheme was fully funded by TfL and was delivered in partnership with London Borough of Croydon.

Ealing

Greenford Town Centre

The Good for Greenford town centre improvement scheme has been part funded by TfL and delivered in partnership with London Borough of Ealing. Wider footways and new pedestrian crossings have been installed and existing traffic signals have been rephrased to ease congestion.

Greenwich

Woolwich Town Centre ­ Woolwich New Road

Better Streets

This scheme, part funded by TfL and delivered by London Borough of Greenwich, has led to signifincat improvements on and around Woolwich New Road. The area around General Gordon Square has been pedestrianised and part of Woolwich New Road has been made two-way. Pedestrians will benefit from new signalised crossings on key junctions and road surfaces have been brought up to pavement level at side roads to make it easier for people using wheelchairs or those with buggies. New street lighting and new longer bus shelters have also been put in.

This scheme is part of a wider project to develop Woolwich Town Centre. Further works to General Gordon Square will be delivered in 2012.

Haringey

Parkland Walk

This scheme, funded by TfL and delivered by the London Borough of Haringey, has delivered improvements to the path along the old railway line between Finsbury Park and Highgate. Improvements include resurfacing, improved access to and from the path and better signage.

Harrow

Newton Park Ecology Farm

Better Green and Water Spaces

This scheme, funded by TfL and delivered by the London Borough of Harrow, has seen a muddy track with no lighting upgraded to a hard surfaced pedestrian and cycle path. It provides a useful link between the Rayners Lane estate and Alexandra Avenue improving access to good shopping facilities, a large medical centre and good bus links.

Hounslow

Hounslow Heath

This scheme, funded by TfL and delivered by the London Borough of Hounslow, promotes access to the Heath and Hounslow´s major nature reserve. By improving access to and through this green space with a shared cycle and pedestrian path, local communities are encouraged to become more interested and involved in nature conservation.

Islington

Goswell Triangle

This scheme, part funded by TfL and delivered by the London Borough of Islington, has seen the creation of a new public space and improved crossing facilities for pedestrians and cyclists. Roads and footways have been levelled to improve accessibility and pedestrian priority. The clock tower has also been refurbished.

Kensington and Chelsea

Brompton Cemetery

This scheme, funded by TfL and delivered by the Royal Parks and the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, has seen the upgrade of an existing path within the cemetery, which provides an excellent off-road link for cyclists and pedestrians travelling between the Fulham Road and Old Brompton Road. It is a peaceful alternative for those who wish to avoid arterial routes such as the Earl´s Court one way system.

Hogsmill Bridge

This scheme, funded by TfL and delivered by London Borough of Lambeth, has focussed on reducing traffic congestion and the improvement of the environment for pedestrians and cyclists. Slip roads have been introduced to reduce traffic tail backs. Parts of the roads have also been pedestrianised, clutter has been removed and crossings have been installed.

Beckenham Place Park

This scheme, funded by TfL and delivered by London Borough of Lewisham, has created an entirely new connection between Bellingham and Catford to the north and Bromley town centre to the south. This has improved connections for pedestrians and cyclists to Ravensbourne and Beckenham Hill train stations.

Redbridge

Fairlop Plains Country Park

This scheme is the first of the Mayor´s Help a London Park projects to be ready for public use. Fairlop Plains Country Park has a huge potential for recreation as well as being a wildlife habitat. GLA funding has been used to improve the offer and mix of sports and leisure facilities, create artist-designed gateways, improve footpaths and cycleways and protect its amazing wildlife interest.

Gants Hill

This scheme has been developed by TfL working in partnership with LB Redbridge. It has been funded by TfL and the Department for Communities and Local Government. New crossings, improved cycle facilities, better lighting and newly paved footways have all been introduced. Measures to improve traffic flow through the Gants Hill roundabout have also been out in along with the planting of new trees.

Tower Hamlets

Aldgate Gyratory / Braham Street Park

The removal of the Aldgate Gyratory system, by the Corporation of London and TfL, has provided the opportunity to create a new linear park on the space that was taken by the Braham Street arm of the gyratory. The scheme, funded by developer contributions and the LDA, is the first completed project under the banner of High Street 2012, the programme to improve the street that connects the City and the Olympic and Paralympic venues at Stratford. The design incorporates three large lawn areas, informal clusters of trees, and a continuous zigzag shaped timber bench runs along the northern edge of the park, providing one of the longest examples of outdoor seating in London. A water fountain in the central activity area provides a special focus to the park.

Westminster

Oxford Circus

This radical scheme was developed by Westminster City Council and the New West End Company. Funded by TfL and the Crown Estates, it has dramatically improved the streetscene, widened the footways and the focal point, a new diagonal crossing at Oxford Circus, allows twice as many pedestrians to cross the roads in all directions at once, significantly easing congestion.

The scheme also builds on the work that is being developed to improve the area outside Wimbledon Station, which is a vital link for thousands of visitors to the Wimbledon Tennis Championships every year. Wimbledon is also a 2012 Olympic venue.

The Olympic Greenway

The Greenway is a pedestrian and cycle path linking the Lea Valley eastwards to the Roding Valley and on to the Thames. The ODA is leading a project to deliver a long term enhancement of the section of the Greenway between West Ham and Victoria Park.
