City Hall - public exhibitions

The GLA has a continuing programme of exhibitions on London-related topics at City Hall. They are open to the public free of charge.

Photo exhibition on the lower ramp, City HallThe building has the following exhibition spaces:

  • 2nd floor, lobby behind the Assembly Chamber
  • Lower ground floor: lower part of ramp from ground floor, Visitor Centre (Photomat area) and café area

City Hall is open to the public from 8am to 8pm Monday to Friday, and also on occasional weekends. See the City Hall public access page for further information about visiting City Hall.

Proud HeritageProud Heritage

26 June - 11 July
Lower Ramp

Proud Heritage is a museum of Lesbian Gay Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) history and culture. Past images document the path taken to equality from the first Pride march to the present day. To coincide with this years LGBT Pride celebrations.

Big DanceBig Dance

26 June - 11 July
Cafe

11 artists taking part in the Young Photographers competition are displaying their entries with this year Big Dance as their topic. Coincides with the record breaking Big Dance events taking place in Trafalgar Square.

Museum of London

10 July – 2 September
City Hall

Museum of London is one of the largest urban history museums in the world and its collections are as quirky, vast and varied as London itself. Visitors can walk through the story of the city, from prehistoric times to the global city we know today. The objects tell the stories of Londoners past and present; from over half a million years ago to the present day. This taster display will prompt anyone wanting to find out more about the city’s past to make a trip to Museum of London on London Wall where free events for all the family take place throughout the summer.

Sport HeroesSport Heroes

Lower Ramp

A photographic exhibition celebrating sport men and women from all ages and cultures. Part of the Summer of Sport campaign.

Olympic Arts Project

15 – 31 July
Chamber Lobby

An exhibition of artwork from workshops attended by young people from various schools, youth clubs and community centers. The workshops took place throughout the country and were based on the Olympics and what it means to them. Kevin Whitney created the workshop project and was the 1984 GB official Olympic artist. Part of the Summer of Sport campaign.
