Holding public hearings for planning applications

The Mayor has a key role in making strategic planning decisions for London.

As a result he will occasionally take over an application for his own determination. He must then hold a public hearing before deciding whether or not to grant planning permission. All Londoners are welcome to come along to these hearings. They are normally held in the Chamber at City Hall in the evening. The Chamber has a capacity of 250 people and is fully accessible. For information about accessing City Hall see: location map and disabled access.

At least a week’s notice of a public hearing on a planning application is given.

Full details of hearings, including past hearings and documents relating to the Mayor's decision, can be found in the Public Hearings pages in the Planning section.
