|
X-it ProgrammeProject aims: The project aims to empower young people to make positive choices and develop self-esteem through engaging in challenges. It also seeks to identify goals and provide training to young people to increase their employability. Lead organisation(s): X-it Programme, in partnership with the Youth and Play service in Lambeth, Youth Advocate Programme, In-volve, MPS and Brathay Hall. Client group: The project works with youngsters from 14 to 19 years of age who are offending or at risk of offending and on the fringes of gang membership. Programme delivery: The programme is delivered to well-known 'crews' in hotspot areas, identified by police and youth workers. Attendance is voluntary, and the project operates in three different estates simultaneously. This varies from programme to programme. The programme consists of a four-part modular programme running over 32 weeks including a 10-week group work programme, a 6-day intensive residential, a 20 week leadership programme and a personal development and mentoring support scheme. Funding: The total project costs £56,500 and is funded by Lambeth Youth & Play Service, Community Safety, Brathay Hall Trust, and the NRF.
