Location map of IslingtonThe London Borough of Islington is a lively inner-London borough with a thriving fringe theatre scene, a wealth of restaurants and vibrant nightlife.

Islington has 190,500 residents, and 150,000 people work there. Islington has a medium sized BME population, at 25 per cent, and very diverse BME groups. Islington is the second most densely populated borough, and despite areas of affluence, it has the third highest deprivation ranking in London.

Between December 2004 and December 2005, overall crime in Islington fell by 3 per cent, as compared to the London-wide average of a 4 per cent decrease.

The number of homicide incidents rose slightly in the same period, and the number of gun-enabled crimes rose from 77 to 126 incidents, a 64 per cent rise.
